We went to St. Maarten three years ago and used Dive Safari. They have a dive shop at the marina which is in Phillipsburg. Diving in St. Maarten isn't spectacular, however, it's diving! There is no reef structure around the island, so they have sunk a lot of barges and boats that have quite a bit of life on them. I don't know what time of year you are going, but depending on the time of year, you could have some kicking swells. We had six to seven foot seas and it certainly made for a fun trip out and back.

You might also want to post your question on www.scubaboard.com.

Have a fun trip!
