This weekend - Buchanan's Reef photos |
Posted by Jim on July 22, 2007 at 19:38:00: Saturday, the Webbs, Christian, and I dove the wreck of the Star of Scotland - not a good choice, poor visibility and very dark on the bottom. For our second dive, we ran back down the coast to the "barge." Normally, we get good visibility on the barge even when other areas are not good - something to be said for being near a deep water canyon...again, poor vis. I was set up for supermacro with my 105mm lens, but it was so dark and murky the camera had a hard time focusing and I took very few pictures. On Sunday, the Webbs, Todd, and I decided to run around the corner of Palos Verdes to Buchanan's Reef, near Old Marineland. Although a mild current was running through the area, the visibility was phenomenal - a good twenty+ feet. I had swapped out my macro lens for the 14-54mm all-purpose-I-don't-care-what-I-see-I-can-shoot-it lens. There were lots of nudibranchs out and many friendly fish. I concentrated to fish portraits.
