We figured the vis the water warming with improving vis for the last couple of weeks so this would be the weekend to really have great diving in San Pedro Bay. Wrong! The water was between 53 and 54 right up to the surface. It was plain cold and this is Sept. Where the heck is global warming when you need it? There was a thick layer of green water at 5-15 feet that really cut down on the ambient light.

Vis was good once you got below 40-50 feet with maybe 25-30 feet horizontal except for the last dive on the Georgia Straits where it was a toasty 56 degrees but vis was down to 15 dark feet. There is a large trawl net now draped all over the Georgia Straits which make a great anchor and fishing tackle trap. Did manage to pick up two new Lewmar Claw anchors – just what my wife wants along with the 30 or so others I have hanging on the wall.

Was anyone out in Santa Monica Bay – if so, lets hear about the vis…
