I took these pictures of Farfantepenaeus californiensis (Khaki prawn) on a night dive in Pyramid Cove at San Clemente Island on September 1, 2007. The depth was approximately 55 feet.

The shrimp were out walking on the sand. Once in the light they quickly buried themselves.

H. Delbius, Crusteca Guide of the World, p. 114 says the range for this species is San Francisco to Sea of Cortez, the Galapagos, and Peru. It is 60% of the commercial shrimp catch in Mexico's Pacific.
