I don't know what your options are in the Ventura (Chanel Isl) area, but if you are staying in the Los Angeles (LAX) area you have plenty of M-F daytime diving if you don't mind diving from shore.

If when you are in LA and you want to dive during the week, post on the Divevets.com website and I'm sure you can find a buddy to show you around.
