I dove with Diving Safaris in Playa Hermosa, viz was about 20 ft, water was cool (68 degrees in July due to an upwelling.) Lots and lots of lots of marine life, tho. Eels and octopus, frog fish, sharks, rays. Way cool. When I was there, diving was only developed in Hermosa/Playa del Coco and Canos Island/Drake Bay. Now I understand it's much more developed in other areas along the Pacific coast. I would say overall, plan to dive in a 3 mm suit, expect varied visibility, but to be treated to the divese life forms that the Pacific has to offer. :)
