Another thought perhaps... The smaller crabs down here I just use my iron to pop up in the water and let them fall into my bag.
It works good, but I don't know though that that would work with those ones.
Then there are the big sheepcrabs. Those you bop on the head and wrestle when they reach up for you. It can be a close match.
Hey, maybe one day I can catch one of those Peuget Sound crabs you found.
