self-insure (good decision for me -- I'm Mr. Paranoid about
prep, I don't beach dive much, I don't give my gear to airlines any
more)

You do have to take it to one of their repair places. Fortunately
our place of choice (Sub Aquatic down the road in Salinas) is.
And they replace, not pay money.

But all in all, a positive experience.
