Actually I was thinking maybe we could put an on-line reporting tool on a BBS (hmmm) and see if it provides good info (my guess is 'yes'). What bothers me about the card is entering the date and time before the dive (if you're like me, that info would fill a card with zero bugs actually taken!). Plus it doesn't really tell much - what is the water temp, size / gender of bug, depth, harness of shell, and other relevant info (like was it the only one seen or was it just the unlucky one and the diver left other larger bugs there). Could see it extend to abalone - bothers me to buy a card when I'd only take 3 anyway as I don't live in NorCal (yet). |
