My condition is apparently much worse, and the typical diving position causes me severe migrains. But you should probably try a cervical collar (neck brace) for a short while. This works wonders for me, whereas the steroids etc. did nothing to remove the pain in my arm and the headaches.
The C-Collar will essentially put your neck in traction and remove the pressure from the nerve.
