Chris got me wondering what Saunders reef was all about so I brought up my Garmin maps and here's what I saw:

The marker buoy for Saunders reef is actually out a little beyond where the obstructions are.
There are three major rocks in a triangle that make up the reef. It appears that the reef is offshore maybe 1/2 mile.
The main exposed rock is at:
N 38 51,002
W 123 39,769

The other two are listed as obstructions that cover. They are at:
N 38 51,128
W 123 39,746

and

N 38 51,128
W 123 39,563

The depths around Saunders reef seems to be around 140 feet on the outside and 70 to 80 feet right around it and to the inside.

Another interesting underwater rock I spotted was one that is between Saunders and Point Arena and it is at:
N 38 52,795
W 123 41,040

When the seas calm down and I get a chance to get to these spots I'll give a ful report.

Thanks Chris for the tip,
and thanks Ross O for the maps ;-)
