Posted by tleemay on December 24, 2007 at 13:34:06: OK, it wasn't in CA, but it was at a place not normally known for such sightings. Off Maui's Molokini at Shark Condos. 60' underwater. It was between 35-40 ft long, sighted at 7:50am on DEC 21. It hung around with divers all about for 45 minutes just circling back and forth from the N back to S. Sorry, no pixs. The guys who saw it are staying at our condo, so they have no connectivity or laptop with them to plug the pix into. I've dove Maui for 14 years, most extensively around Molokini, and have never seen a whale shark there. So needless to say, I'm excited about the sighting so close to shore. The guys were on the three-tank Ed Robinson's boat. Captain Fishy Ed and the crew were besides themselves as well over the sighting.
