We decided to paddle the kayaks to the Redondo artificial reef on Sun morning. Myself and Johnny left at 7:30 am, after 30 min of paddling we were in the area. We had no GPS and were just dead reckoning and triangulating from the satellite photos of the area. We found a large group of Sea Lions floating on the surface, took that as a good sign, and dropped anchor. We hit bottom at 81' and to our amazement the anchor landed 30' from the sunken barge. Water vis was 30', temp 54 and mild current. We penetrated the wreck in a very safe location, a 10' hole that led into a 20' by 20' room, always maintaining a view of the exit. The whole dive we had the Sea Lions circling us, all the way up the anchor rope. We also got three nice bugs, a great dive for our first paddle to the artificial reef
