Monterey would be the best bet on any diving around the SF Bay area.
It's about 2 hours south and features many dive boats, dive shops, and great top side attractions including a world class aquarium, top notch restaurants, and shops. There is some shore diving there too but in your case you would get more value and diving pleasure boat diving I think. Expect water temps to be around 50 to 53 degrees farenheit. A drysuit is nice but if you can handle cold water a 7mm wetsuit will work too.

There is diving north of SF way up on the north coast but you would need a local guide or club to take you out and show you where to go because it's very unimproved, rugged, and there are no dive services.
