If you can get over to Avalon, the dive park is a good option.

However, I think you might find it's quite a bit of work (driving to the ferry, carrying gear on and off the ferry, finding a taxi to the dive park, diving, finding fills for one, two or three dives -- finding somewhere to eat, and then lugging everything back to Santa Monica).

A much more relaxed option would be make the 90-minute drive up Pacific Coast Highway through Malibu to Ventura harbor and take the Spectre dive boat out to Anacapa and/or Santa Cruz islands. (The Spectre is the only charter boat I can see that's scheduled to run 2/21).

All in all, the Spectre will be the same or less money and you'll save yourself a lot of hassle and get air fills and food into the bargain.

The only caveat is that mid-week trips in the winter don't always get enough divers to run, but if you sign up now they will let you know a day or two ahead of time whether the trip is going ahead.

If all else fails, you can send an email to the Sandeaters beach diving group (mail@sandeaters.org) and see if anybody's interested in going out locally.

Have a good trip.
