I lug an extensive amount of gear.....on my Customs declaration I put down the purpose of my trip is business and occupation is travel writer. You can put down something like professional photographer.

I have never had any hassles other than the kaleidescope of gear confuses the Transportation Insecurity Theater folks who watch the x-ray monitors.
