"The California diving community lost one of its important pillars this
week. Robert Given, professor of biology at Marymount College and one
of the guiding benefactors of the Catalina Island Conservancy passed
last weekend. Bob was a good friend and a fierce protector of
California's nearshore community. He will be dearly missed by Catalina
Island, his students and the diving community . "
