Vets is our favorite, especially for a squid run, We like to do a twilight dive first - you see both the day and evening critters as they "switch shifts". Neatest experience was during a swim out from near the jetty when we saw a squadron of seven + bat rays cruise by.

If you're in the LaJolla area, try Scripps or the area out from the Marine Room (especially on a full moon night when its just magical out there). The hotel at the Beach & Tennis Club has a light that illuminates teh beach and gives you a good homing beacon!

One of my all time favorites was Northwest anchorage off San Clemente Island. On a calm night its like wonderland underwater with all the channels and crevices to explore.
