South Bay on Saturday - condition report |
Posted by Jim on March 23, 2008 at 07:23:57: In Reply to: Moby Kate Report 3.22.2008, Horseshoe kelp. Post more dive condition reports... posted by Andy S on March 22, 2008 at 22:08:15: Scott and I visited the Barge wreck off Redondo Beach on Sat. When we left the slip, a Santa Ana wind was blowing off-shore. No wind waves, but a fast 3-5 West swell lifted and dropped the Popeye Maru as we motored to the site. We suited up and dropped over the side into not-so-promising green/yellow water. It got dark as we moved down the anchorline, and darker, and darker. On the bottom, at eighty feet, it was like a night dive. Visibility was maybe five-feet, at best. Water temp. - 53 degrees. We did one dive, pulled the anchor, and headed back to the slip. There are good dives and excellent dives; this one was a good dive...
