Last Saturday March 22, 200 I and 15 other Sea Divers went to Catalina aboard the Magician.

Our first dive was at Little Farnsworth, a pinnacle in front of the power plant just East of Avalon. Since Kathryn had not been diving for about eight months I left the camera behind so I could devote my attention to her for the dive. Little Farnsworth was covered with Zoanthids (as usual) and Kathryn and I also found an octopus, a moray, and several lobsters. The water was 53°F at 110 ft. and 56°F near the surface. The water was very green (as it was everywhere) but the visibility opened up a bit below 100 feet.

Our next dive was at Long Point. Kathryn and I found a C-O Sole which I took a sequence of very similar looking pictures of.

The third dive was at the Bill Kroll Memorial at Little Gibraltar. Most divers saw morays here. We did not. But I did find a crack full of lobster and red shrimp.

Our inside was near the plane wreck. I took a very interesting sequence of a California Sea Cucumber feeding. Watching the multiple mouths in action was fascinating.

We dove the plane wreck instead of moving on because Captain Jerry said there ahead been several Great White sightings near the crane. The story (3rd hand) was that there was a dead baby whale carcass on the shore stinking to high heaven. So the crew of the Sand dollar used their skiff to drag it out into deeper water. When the divers later went in for a night dive at the same spot they encountered a Great White. The next morning they again saw the Great White swimming around the anchor line so elected to move to a new spot.
