Jay Baker True Value Hardware, the best dive shop south of Fort Bragg on the California North Coast... Pretty much the only one too I think. It is the home of the 10" abalone club. They actually sell dive gear, though forget it about getting much more than you need for abs. They rent most gear and they fill tanks. All they had when I was there were aluminum and the fill pressure is subject to whim and heat. They have all required F&G licences and permits.
It a great place for hardware too.

It's sort of a classic place. Not Home Depot
