I respect your opinion (we've all got one), but how does an open boat stop beginners from coming vs a shop's or group's boat? Also, with a shop/group there tends to be a leader who knows the overall skill level of the divers on board. With an Open Boat you have nothing but wild cards and only the diver's word as to their abilities. I've seen beginners get overwhelmed at more advanced sites because they didn't admit to their lower abilities and went with the flow.
That said, I agree that an open boat on "the right boat" can be great, but my own experience has shown otherwise.

Once again, ignore at will. Just my 2cents.
