 We’re still on a good track but I fear we’re slowing down a bit. Hopefully, it’s just the calm before the storm. I am pleased/shocked/amazed to announce that we have passed $39,000 in this year’s Challenge. Keep in mind that our highest total ever was $27,480 in 2006. Where we are now is wonderful, gratifying, and stunning. But we can’t let up as we have less than two weeks to go until Chamber Day/Eve 2008. The big news out of all of this is coming from The Little Engine That Could, better known as Debbie Karimoto and the OCDiving.com Divers. Debbie’s taken it upon herself to organize her own mini-challenge within the Challenge for her divers and they’ve responded quite well. We told you in our 4/18 report that they have passed $4000. Well, now we’re happy to report that today, they passed $5000, which sticks them in the rarified air of Platinum Level sponsors (and they’re still going). Well done and many thanks. We’ve also got a new Gold Level sponsor in the person of Stacy Friedowitz, whose company will match her $500 donation with another $500 ($1000) total. And Stacy’s contribution underscores the importance of seeing if your company has a matching grant program. Let’s not lose the momentum. We are sooooooo close to $40,000. It won’t take much to put us past that line. But it does take you either picking up the phone or going to the website to make a donation. We’re counting down the days.
