So, to summarize, you want to use a DPV so you can find "the elusive 12 inchers" even though your freediving skills aren't up to snuff?

I'd think the more sensible approach would be to work on your breathholding ability and cardiovascular fitness, but I realize you may find that to be a lot of work.

As for "no discretion," leaving the bigger abs (bigger spawners, better genes) is often regarded as the more responsible approach with regard to fishery management.
