They vacation here just about every year. They found out that the Anegada Island School did not have a Steel Drum. They school and the government are too poor to buy one. They felt the kids were missing out on learning some island culture. They bought a Steel Drum from a manufacturer in Rhode Island - Jason Roseman, at their own expense, for about $1,200.00 and brought it here on this vacation. They will present it to Alex Warn who works in a bar here and who also teaches at the Island School. This is Rich Cheatham showing me the islands first steel drum: This is Alex Warn teacher/bartender who will be suprised later this evening by the gift for the school. So, if in a few years there is a steel drum band on Anegada - this is where it all began.
