We've discussed this a few times before while cruising to go diving.
But one thing I thought about and how good you'd have to be to be able to do this, and that would be to do a continuous equalization such as one done by a no limits world champion freediver getting pulled down to 500+ feet on a sled holding on for dear life with both hands. I forget the rate of travel but they get down there in no time flat. I don't know if they use a nose plug and blow the whole way down, or if they just hold a yawn and do it automatically, but man, if you missed the window to equalize and your ears locked up you'd be a hurtin' unit.
