If getting certified through a Community College, make sure you
understand ALL the costs to getting ALL the way to a C-card. I've
seen such programs (and local adult ed programs) where it only
covered the pool and classroom work, not the ocean (school wanted
nothing to do with the liability of the ocean).

That said, I got certified through the local adult ed program, and
I think it ended up being a better class than most (two weekends
at the ocean).
