Hey Seaschralped, I took the liberty of checking out your blog, and it sounds like you're off to a good start with skindiving. Though I more frequently dive on scuba these days, overall I've done more diving holding my breath than with a tank.

It looks like you've scoped out some of the best snorkeling/freediving spots -- Christmas Tree Cove, Malaga, Pt. Vicente Fishing Access, Little Corona have all been very fun for me. South of Little Corona, Crystal Cove is good as well, as are some of the coves in Laguna. I've found with both Little Corona and Laguna that you need a very calm day to get good visibility on the reefs -- otherwise they tend to be churned up in the shallows.

Besides the mainland, Catalina is great for skindiving. You can take the ferry to Avalon and skindive in the Casino Point underwater park, or at Lovers Cove on the other side of Avalon. You can also try Two Harbors at the island's isthmus -- there's nice snorkeling along the reef on the west end of town, and also in Big Fisherman's Cove on the east side. If you're adventuresome you can also go out on a commercial dive boat and skindive while everyone else wrangles tanks -- I've had a lot of good times that way.

Cool artwork on your blog too!
