Komodo can rip but the currant that scared me the most was in Alor. Their were whirl pools that would have easily sucked you under if you were on the surface. I saw an area the size of a football field that was ripping so fast you would have thought the ocean was only a foot deep and the water was flowing over boulders. I got it on video an we sailed thru it. Indonesia is an amazing place. Dive with a good safe operation and you will be fine.
