When I took friends sailing I would not let them pay for anything, but I was following the 'old' regs / standards. Plus with a sailboat my annual fuel expense was under $10 and it was nice to have my friends help sail.

What I wonder about this particular situation is that there is a regular 'schedule' of Sundays and Wednesdays and a 'price' of $60 pp. It quacks like a duck, so may very well be one. Given the price of fuel it seems fair to ask people to chip in, but you'd think that would be at the fuel dock. Really think there is some thin ice on this proposal.

Not to say that its not a good deal for divers; just some caution for the owner, especially in the event of an incident. Would suggest having the passengers splitting the fuel fill whatever that happens to be.
