Dash the regulations.

Someone takes you diving, chip in on gas.
If the captain is uncomfortable then have him steward a few 20's to his fave charity.

Rule two...
Bring snacks or beverages.

Rule three...
Help with the wash-down. Always.

Rule Four...
Shlep all the gear you can. For everyone

Rule four...
If you puke over the side, either make it dramatic, or dignified. There is no in between.
