Well said scjoe.

I ran into a guy and his girlfriend at a dance club once who owned a 42' Californian which is like a Grand Banks but less than half the price. I ran into him again at the LDS and he invited me to join up with him and his girlfriend and another couple for dive weekends at Catalina.

After the first trip, on the way back I cleaned up the boat, helped unload, pitched in for gas without being asked, etc. He was so pleasantly shocked he gave me the keys to the boat so I could bring dates the Friday evening and stay overnight on the boat to be had all to ourselves before they would arrive Saturday early am.

All I see here is arrows being slung at a guy who is offering a chance to make new friends, get some great diving in with some fellow divers on his boat, and contribute nothing but gas. Instead of treating him like the antichrist, he should be treated like Mother Theresa.

Give him a break!
