I love mine. I usually don't need it, but, for those times that I do - it has been a great help.

I can't remember which name goes with what, but I have the big transmitter and the little receiver. Most people that I know who own dive trackers seem to use and like that combination.

If you put it near the anchor and make sure that it hangs high enough in the water column - it should work fine. Thick Kelp, rocks, reefs, and the like can block the signal if they are between the transmitter and your receiver.
