Why is a non-derelict net any better? |

It tangles a mammal or a bird or a shark or whatever, or even some smaller bycatch species. If that happens toward the end of the set, let's say in the last hour, perhaps the animal will still be alive when the net is tended and the animal is released. But in the other 23 hours, the net would be just as deadly as a derelict net. Right? or am I missing something?
