If you and your wife are newer divers, I'd consider taking a class to do your first night dive, or at least go with a friend who is very experienced diving at night. I believe Ken Kurtis at Reef Seekers offers a free night diving class each month at Veterans' Park in Redondo Beach, with the next one being July 9.
