Ab diver drowns

Sheriff's coroners have identified a man who drowned Friday, June 20 at Russian Gulch State Park as Jared Robert Wenger, 32, of Citrus Heights. According to Sheriff's report, Wenger disappeared while abalone diving with his family. An autopsy concluded that he drowned.

The death is the third since abalone season began April 1 on the Mendocino Coast. Two others have lost their lives in abalone-related incidents at Point Arena and Mendocino.
