SAN DIEGO -- A man died Monday after a dive near San Clemente Island, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The diver, a 60-year-old man, was diving off an anchored diving charter about two miles off of San Clemente Island.

He was brought to the surface after experiencing complications underwater, according to the Coast Guard.

A Coast Guard helicopter rescued the man, but he was pronounced dead at a hospital.
