Lobster paochers facing charges

LA JOLLA – Misdemeanor charges were filed Friday against two scuba divers accused of taking 122 lobsters out of season, including 113 that were undersize, near Casa Beach in La Jolla.

The San Diego City Attorney's Office identified the divers as Dorr Erik Overby and Jesse Tyler House-knecht.

A warden for the state Department of Fish and Game cited the pair June 18 after seeing them emerge from the water near Casa Beach with bags containing the lobsters, agency spokesman Harry Morris said.

The most recent lobster season ended March 19. The crustaceans in the June incident were returned to the ocean after being photographed as evidence.

A hearing on the charges has been set for Aug. 27 in San Diego Superior Court.
