went to malibu for some freediving this afternoon, 4PM to 6PM low surf, 10-15ft vis, some strong surge though the 1st hour was a little slow, I saw lots of schools of juvenile topsmelt then things picked up.. white sea bass, cabezon, spotted kelpfish, small bat ray, schooling black croakers, a large school of baby black perch, lots of giant kelpfish.. great exercise, and a great way to spend the late afternoon I also hit up shaw's cove & crescent cove in laguna, and marina del rey over the last few days for freediving with my wife. conditions were nice in both places. here's some photos. I took my fisheye lens, and I had 1 strobe in laguna and in malibu. enjoy, baby black perch, malibu intimate designs, malibu white sea bass, malibu leopard shark, marina del rey juvenile black croakers, marine del rey walleye perch, laguna beach giant kelpfish, marina del rey spotted kelpfish, laguna beach |
