went to malibu for some freediving this afternoon, 4PM to 6PM
low surf, 10-15ft vis, some strong surge though
the 1st hour was a little slow, I saw lots of schools of juvenile topsmelt
then things picked up.. white sea bass, cabezon, spotted kelpfish, small bat ray, schooling black croakers, a large school of baby black perch, lots of giant kelpfish..
great exercise, and a great way to spend the late afternoon
I also hit up shaw's cove & crescent cove in laguna, and marina del rey over the last few days for freediving with my wife. conditions were nice in both places.
here's some photos. I took my fisheye lens, and I had 1 strobe in laguna and in malibu.
