The Economy. The dive industry hasn't enjoyed 100% markups on everything for quit a while. Now most of our local dive stores are interested soley in profit not for the love of the sport. The have to be in order to keep the doors open. Rent and product is sky high. They have to push those $200.00 bullshit fins and colorful, overly gimmicky masks and other products rather than sell you wants safe and perfectly functionable. Buy your own compressor if your such a Scuba officianado. It only requires space and a few thousand bucks. Being a diver is in the soul. If you have to go undergound, soul be it. And why use nitrox if you don't need it. Most people really don't.
