I also think it's regional. Down in LA you guys have options, where I live we only have a few LDS's and so we are at their mercy as to what they carry and how their service is.
Pretty much everybody originally started diving with around here seldom goes into any of the shops except for airfills (the ones that don't have access to a compressor). Airfills are $7.00 now BTW.
Sport Chalet may not have 100% markup but we don't have any SC's in this area.
