It's pretty much a crapshoot on when they'll show up. One or two years I've hit them a night or two after a full moon. But this has often been in January or February -- mid-December seems early, based on recent years. Mostly I watch for reports from friends who dive Vets more than I do, and keep a tank full to go on short notice through most of the winter.
