What kind of stuff is Beuchat?

The only place I've ever seen Beuchat regs was in a small dive shop in Petaluma. I never payed much attention because I already had to many regs. I thought Beuchat was an off brand and the dive shop carried them because they couldn't get anything else.

What's the quality like, are they fairly good?
I know it's a french company, which I've heard sometimes the french aren't always the best about warranty issues, but what about the craftsmanship and the operating characteristics.
