I am all for the MLPA, a great plan for insuring the health of the So Cal marine life for the future. But I just have a problem with any commercial fishing practice that includes any type of bycatch or unnecessary death to the non-target marine life. The commercial Lobster guys do not seem to kill other marine life as they work, yet the bottom trawls and gill nets seem to be very destructive and potentially dangerous to ocean users such as divers. I am for this network of MPA'S, just do not let destructive commercial practices happen right next to them. I am a consumptive diver that trusts the MLPA process to the people involved, but would be willing to get more involved in getting the destructive fishing practices removed from our waters
