Dive Report: Catalina on November 29, 2008 aboard the Great Escape |
Posted by Chris on December 18, 2008 at 10:54:06: The Saturday after Thanksgiving Kathryn and I went to Catalina on a Great Escape open boat. It was a nice day with calm seas that morning. We dove Bird Rock (vis:30 ft. T:60°F). Then we moved to just west of the Old Rock Quarry and made two dives. The first dive the visibility was 60+ ft. and the water was again 61°F. I spent most of the dive taking pictures of a large Tylodina fungina. Everyone liked it so much we stayed for the third dive there. However the currents shifted and the visibility dropped to 20 ft., but still a warm 60°F, but it still was a nice dive. I spent most of that dive taking pictures of a shrimp I had never seen before Alpheus bellimanus. Click on the link below to see the pictures from the trip. ©2008 Chris Grossman, diver.net |
