I've been there a couple of times. Both times we dove the reefs off Ambergris, they are spectacular, 100ft. vis and lots of structure (spur and groove reefs) nd life. We dove with several operators and they were all good. All the diving there is drift diving of a sort, the boat follows your bubbles as you tour the reef, and are right there when you surface. Make sure you visit the Mayan ruins while your there. Boat trips can be arranged from the island and include a hair raising (but fun zoom through the Mangroves to a wood carving village called Boomba, a bus picks you up for a ride to either Altun Ha (close) or Laminai (not so close). Shark Ray Alley is another fun tour. Have fun! P.S. also don't miss "the chicken drop" a gambling event a one of the bars involving a chicken and a large game board....
