Have any of you Southern California divers ever experienced an inverted thermocline at a local site (i.e. the water becomes warmer deeper)?

I gather this sometimes happens in certain situations -- hypersaline water pooling at depth, or sometimes outflows from rivers or streams. But I'm not remembering anywhere that I've encountered this phenomenon locally.

My 14-y.o. son is interested as a possible science fair topic.
