Roatan in general would be a teriffic place except for the insects. If you scratch the bites they will last up to 6 months. Staying covered in a wetsuit, booties, gloves, and hood will help outdoors. When you remove your suit at a shower/rinse tank you will get bitten. Sitting on a boat at the dock, you will get bitten. Tanning on a beach, you will get bitten. Walking downtown, you will get bitten. Eating out, you will get bitten. No matter what you do - you will be bug food. You won't see the bugs at first so you will think you are safe - you aren't. Never let down your guard or your insect repellent.
