I started to write this last night around 7PM . . . and then a power outage hit the Westside and we didn't get the juice back until around 4;30AM this morning. The only possible conclusion is that what I'm about to say is SOOOO electrifying, that it overloaded the entire power grid.

We've jumped past $31,000!!! And we owe it all to Michael Kane.

There's no question that Michael and I have had our ups and down over the years (and, for the record, many more "ups" than "downs') but one thing he and I have always been lock-step in agreement on is the importance of our Chamber and the need for divers to pitch in with the funding. And that's why Michael is again this year making a $5000 donation. (That's not a typo. And that means FIVE more candles lit on the birthday cake.) It also makes Michael our first Platinum donor this year.

In fact, if you know the history of this Challenge, it all started with the impetus from Michael. To say it's grown would be an understatement. And while last year was an unprecedented record-setting, the reality is that the Challenge has grown each year we've done it. And we've still got time to eclipse last year's total.

So whether you can join Michael at the Platinum level, become a $1000 Gold Donor, a $500 Silver, or a $100 bronze, we say once again . . .

Who's next? Who will take us past $32,000???
