I like warm water coral reef diving. Galveston is about 1500 miles from LA, far closer than Florida. Cabo in Baja is much closer in distance but the travel is slow, plus it is in Mexico. I think it may take 70% of the time compared to tarvel to South Texas. Figure 75 vs 35 MPH, I think.

Do at least some divers in SoCal travel to South Texas?

Is it legal in Texas to collect a few seashore creatures to be kept in aquarium? Do you need a Texas license to do so, if so is it the same as fishing license?

I am interested in a diving trip to South Texas after I have learnt to Scuba, and soon.
